Icey is a 2D side-scrolling action game and a meta game in disguise. As you follow the narrator's omnipresent voice, you will see through Icey's eyes and learn the truth about her world. The narrator will constantly urge you in one direction, but you must ask, "Why? Why am I following his directions?“ Obey? Rebel?

PlayStation LifeStyleTyler TreeseAug 20179.5/10ICEY is a biting commentary on the entire medium of games. Beneath a solid 2D action game lies one of the most interesting titles I've had the pleasure of playing. It's a game that isn't afraid to take risks, and managed to constantly surprise me despite pulling off the ridiculous several times prior. Everyone who considers themselves a “gamer,” should play ICEY, and then sit down to think about its message.

God is a GeekMikhail MadnaniAug 20178.5/10ICEY is a nice little adventure that blends in some great combat with a fourth wall breaking adventure and excellent visuals.

ThisGenGamingJustin OneilAug 20179/10If you call yourself a fan of fast action games than ICEY is a must play for you. This game wasn't on my radar at all but it is one of the best indie games of 2017 that I've played. Fast, responsive combat mixed with a beautifully drawn world and a narrator who actually speaks to what the player is doing all combine to form a true gem.

TechRaptorSamuel GuglielmoAug 20176/10ICEY tries to combine a fourth wall breaking narrative to 2D action game play with mixed results. It has some good moments, but for the most part it feels like a lesser version of both elements.

NintendoWorldReportZachary MillerJun 20186/10If you like meta-commentary in your video games, ICEY might be right up your alley, but I found the narration to be overdone, overlong, and overly aggressive. I appreciate ICEY's attempt to differentiate itself but…not like this. Not like this.
