EGMMollie L PattersonJun 202010/10Project Warlock is a first-person shooter created by a tiny indie team that punches way above its weight. While its reason for existence may initially seem to be for paying homage to its genre's forefathers, Project Warlock quickly grows into a game all its own, providing an enthralling shooter experience all the way to the end.

GameGrinJamie DaviesJun 20209/10Project Warlock wears its 90s first-person shooter influence on its sleeve. It's fast, violent and perfectly paced—a must play, whether you harbour fond memories of its inspiration or not. Besides some minor setbacks caused by level design quirks, Project Warlock was pure, unadulterated fun from start to finish.

GameSpaceMatt KeithJul 20208.5/10Project Warlock is a delightful tribute to 90's shooters. It manages to find a perfect balance between old and new all the while still being its own entity. The console port is exceptionally well handled and offers some great options for players. The game attention to detail really helps make PW stand out among others retro titles in the genre. If you are looking for a 90's nostalgia trip or just a fun shooter, check out Project Warlock over on the PlayStation Store.

GameSpotJustin ClarkJun 20206/10Project Warlock is an admirable shotgun blast from the past, but it doesn't really have an identity of its own.

Cubed3Jun 20206/10By no means a bad game, Project Warlock can definitely be fun, but its many rough edges mar the experience, and fun soon gives way to annoyance. While the ultra-retro style is neat, and the gunplay is great, in the end these alone can't help much with the repetitive and simplistic level design, or how often bullets tend to hit thin air, and how unnecessary a permadeath system feels for such a game. Here's hoping the developer team understands what made titles like Doom so darn enjoyable, and create a much better sequel.
