Thumb CultureAug 20265/5 starsCultic is one of the best modern retro shooters available on PS5 right now in my opinion. It’s stylish, brutal, atmospheric, and endlessly fun. If you enjoy fast shooters with horror vibes and clever level design, this is a must‑play. The joy I felt shooting through the levels and thinking of new ways to play was incredible. The amount of tools you are given at your disposal to wreck havoc on the cult members felt truly executed to perfection. Full pun intended. With all this in mind I am happy to be awarding Cultic the Thumb Culture Platinum Award. Don’t hold back and get this game for yourself. You’ll thank me later!

Gaming NexusElliot HilderbrandOct 20228.8/10With Cultic, the nostalgia hits hard. So hard that it was easy to overlook some of the lighter features of the game. Enemies are mindless cult fanatics, sometimes with a gun, other times with an ax, and on occasion dressed in more than just robes. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that Cultic made me feel like I was sitting on a kitchen chair in my friend's house, taking turns trying to clear levels like I was ten years old. When I find something that gives me that goosebump feeling of nostalgia, I eat it up. Cultic made it feel like Thanksgiving; I can't wait to see what the solo developer, Jason Smith, cooks up for chapter two.

PlayStation UniverseJohn-Paul JonesJul 20268.5/10Cultic at once feels it's much too similar to Blood: Refreshed Supply, and yet, it does enough differently to earn an easy recommendation. With a focus on much more deliberate atmospherics and thoughtful level design, not to mention an array of genuinely satisfying weaponry, Cultic is absolutely deserving of your hard-earned cash.
