Garage is a bloody, top-down shooter inspired by VHS era B-movies. You play as Butch, an ex-drug dealer who finds himself in an underground parking garage where he accidentally uncovers a secret underworld filled with mutants and the undead.

Nindie SpotlightNindie SpotlightMay 20188.5/10As a whole package Garage is a breath of musty, diseased, and drug-riddled fresh air on the Switch as there’s truly nothing else on the console like it. Not meant to be a quick spray and pray shooter, the variety in the challenges you’ll face, the line of sight mechanic, and the plain old weirdness throughout make it worthwhile if you’re up for the challenge. I’d hope if there’s more to come of this kind it will be a bit more refined next time, but as a first attempt it’s a bold step and I couldn’t stop playing until I’d reached the conclusion.

Games XtremeJason ItalicMay 2018Storywise, you've got your classic beats here. Things went wrong, science went too far, the dead walk and hunger, and so on and so forth. The game's riffing on some very vintage ideas here, and isn't trying to reinvent the wheel. Rather, it's trying to make that wheel look like it belongs in a grindhouse film's crappy VHS bootleg, from the scanlines to the warped color palettes to the copious amounts of gore.

PS4Blog.netJul 20187/10Garage is a nice homage to the B-movies of the 1980s, with some top-down action that is not as over the top as other entries in the genre (think Hotline Miami). I had fun during my time with the game, and hopefully you'll give this one a change on Nintendo Switch.
