PlayStation UniverseGarri BagdasarovJun 20198/10Effie is good 3D Platformer that left me with a big smile on face. The Red Plains are a beautiful location to explore, especially given that you have an awesome hoverboard to do it with. The combat does hold it back a bit but the overall package is one that fans of 3D Platformers should definitely experience.

New Game NetworkStephen LaGioiaMar 202078/100Effie isn't going to blow any minds, but its tried-and-true action and 3D platforming design makes for a delightful callback to yesteryear.

Video ChumsA.J. MaciejewskiJun 20198/10If you're a fan of 3D platformers then you'll absolutely love Effie. It's one of the most satisfying games that I've played this year so far.

TheSixthAxisAug 20195/10Effie is a decent traditional third person platformer, but could have been so much more. Perhaps we've been spoiled in recent years, but I couldn't shake the feeling that Effie could have been elevated if it had tied the interesting backstory to the game mechanics or development in some way. As it stands, the narrative is totally removed from the game itself and this makes it feel old-fashioned in the wrong sort of way. Not a disaster but a missed opportunity.

ThumbsticksCallum WilliamsAug 20192/5 starsWhile Effie has its heart in the right place, it can’t seem to find the spark that made its iconic platformer inspirations such lovable classics. It’s simplistic and just a little too bland to work, and while there are definitely elements that show care, it can’t save what is, at its core, a forgettable experience.
