This is the Percy Jackson adaptation worthy of Rick Riordan's novels that the Logan Lerman films from the early 2010s never were. The major characters are perfectly cast, with the previously-unknown Walker Scobell in the lead as Jackson being as endearing a young-adult blockbuster franchise star as greats like Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter or Elijah Wood's Frodo Baggins. Scobell nails the hot-headedness, ADHD, childlike aspects of Jackson mixed with the sincere heroism, bravery, and passionate commitment to protecting his loved ones and doing what's right. While there's love for the Lerman version of the character of my generation, he was simply too old to carry that franchise, as was the supporting cast like Alexandra Daddario's Annabeth. Disney's casting of actors closer to 12 for the initial "Lightning Thief" season allows them to age with the series, like they're meant to given the source material, an effect that endears us to these characters as we watch them grow that worked for Harry Potter and the Tom Holland Spider-Men, and works for this show. It's pretty clear that this series is on par with the train wrecks disney has been doling out for the last decade. Another outing in a long line of wastes of time where they dropped the ball on casting, realism, pumped up cringe, or ditching the story or changing it to fill a checklist. Hope is now lost for this series too. But you can now set your watch and expect disney will keep doling out disasters. The track record is clear after what they've done to other things, like Doctor Who, Star Wars, etc. Disney was once great, but it's now in the gutter. Like another user said, this makes the movies looks good.
Read the whole review on TMDBA promising adaptation of a franchise that was let down movie-wise. The bold casting choices make for interesting dynamics and Jason Mantzoukas (Mr. D/Dionysus) does not disappoint! This series is a surprising fresh start from Disney.
