Nintendo LifeScott McCraeSep 202610/10Mewgenics is not only my favourite game of 2026 and one that's unlikely to be unseated from its throne, but it's also already one of my favourite roguelikes and strategy games of all time. It builds upon other classics that blend the two genres, like Into The Breach and Fights in Tight Spaces, and imbues them with brilliant encounters, enemy design, and systems so deep you may never fully get the hang of them.Mewgenics is an extremely special kind of game that only comes around once in a blue moon, even if it is filled to the brim with cat turds.

TechRaptorAustin SutherFeb 202610/10Mewgenics may as well be Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel's magnum opus. It's an insanely deep, tactical strategy game with addicting breeding mechanics, and a mind-boggling amount of roguelite-variety and content to play. I'm over 100 hours in, and I still can't get enough.

GameGrinFeb 202610/10Mewgenics is an eclectic, strategy-filled experience. I’ve never played a game that combines cat breeding with tactical, turn-based battles like this. It was worth the wait!

Slant MagazineSteven ScaifeFeb 20263.5/5 starsMewgenics has so much that its sluggish meta-progression feels designed to get you to see as much of it as possible, albeit at the cost of satisfying pacing. Even when you’re technically earning something new on each new run, the goal remains nowhere in sight.

VGChartzKarl KoebkeMar 20267.5/10A killer soundtrack and interesting game mechanics make Mewgenics worth the price of entry, but it overstays its welcome.
