Attack of the FanboyWilliam SchwartzJan 20152/5 starsRaven's Cry has very few redeemable qualities. Despite having the potential to be the ultimate pirate adventure, and the inclusion of a ton of features, it's not very fun to play and has quite a few technical issues.

IGNBrandin TyrrelFeb 20153/10Raven's Cry would be a bad pirate game even if it weren't in such a buggy, unfinished (and unfinishable) state.

TechRaptorJose AlvaradoFeb 20153/10There's a fun game buried underneath this total lack of polish, but for now, it's broken and unplayable.

EurogamerDaniel StarkeyFeb 2015Instead, there's disaster and disappointment at nearly every turn. With a team that wanted to put the effort in, that had the time or the money to build on this, we might have had an interesting game. Every time I was able to sail to a new island or port, I found myself excited. I wanted to probe around and see what wonders the locale held, but every single time my curiosity was met with tedium and mediocrity. I want to think that my eagerness to explore was a sign that there's something interesting about this setting and this world, but now I think I may have been projecting my own hopes onto a broken, buggy lump.

Rock, Paper, ShotgunJohn WalkerFeb 2015Icons on the minimap don't match those on the main map. Characters piss mid-conversation. The jump barely functions. There's just nothing redeemable here. Frankly, it's damned rude to release a game in this state.
