PlayStation UniverseTommy HollowaySep 20268/10A lack of mission variety, and an array of bugs of the technical variety bring down the experience, but Coldiron have largely improved upon their first outing in the Alien universe, thanks to a fun class system, satisfying gunplay, and challenge cards that make for interesting difficulty experimentation, while remaining mostly faithful to the overarching franchise.

COGconnectedMark SteighnerAug 202678/100Just like the first game, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is fun with friends, and for short play sessions of a few missions and moving the campaign forward. If there’s a third game in the works, it really needs to change up the formula.

ZTGDTerrence JohnsonSep 20267.5/10Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 should be counted among the few really good Aliens franchise video games that we have; and I say that even with the small issues I’ve experienced.

Push SquareAaron BayneSep 20264/10Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is a massive letdown of a sequel. At times it teeters on the so-bad-it's-good territory, with references for fans of the series and some admittedly decent customisation. But it does little to amplify what's at its core: a half-arsed co-op tie-in that, bafflingly, lacks any of the charm that the first game had.

Saving ContentScott Ellison IIAug 20262/5 starsIf you’ve played Aliens: Fireteam Elite, you’ve already played Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. It’s nearly the same game down to mission structure, only prettier but with 200% more story and dialogue you do not want to hear. Once the campaign ends, there’s no real endgame content to speak of, leaving you with nothing to do but replay levels on higher difficulties where the core gameplay fails to hold interest. Charging $10 more than its predecessor for an experience that recycles the same formula where you’re retreading previous areas is uninspired. It offers a few hours of mindless action if you just want to turn your brain off, but ultimately, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 simply isn’t enough to justify the price tag.
