Pure NintendoJaime CarrilloJul 20189/10Even after the initial goofiness wears off, Bomb Chicken coasts to greatness on the game's everlasting charm. It works like all effective puzzle platformers do: on a simple premise executed beautifully. Plus, it's a Chicken who poops bombs. What's not to love?

PS4Blog.netAug 20189/10Bomb Chicken is a very fun release on Nintendo Switch that I highly recommend. It's clever and does things differently from other platformers on Nintendo's hybrid console, and the art style, enemy design, the setup of each stage and the difficulty curve are top notch. The game might be short, with around 3 to 4 hours of content if you want to 100% it, which might rub some of you the wrong way with its $14.99 asking price, but trust me, it's worth every penny since this one is all killer no filler.

EGMMichael GoroffJul 20188.5/10Bomb Chicken is a classic indie puzzle-platformer that wears its developer's history and influence on its sleeve. From its Super Nintendo-inspired, colorful pixel art to its one unique platforming mechanic, Bomb Chicken is truly an education in how to put together a satisfying gaming experience—though players hoping that the length and narrative of a game like Celeste or the ability progression of a Shovel Knight might make their way into a game about a chicken that lays bombs will be a little disappointed.

God is a GeekNicola ArdronJul 20186.5/10Bomb Chicken is a fun little platformer that doesn't quite manage to balance its difficulty consistently throughout its entirety. Simple mechanics and an adorable fat hen do mean though that you'll have a good time for the most part.

Cubed3Drew HurleyJul 20186/10Bomb Chicken isn't going to be breaking any molds. What it does, countless others have done before, and better. That doesn't mean it isn't a ton of fun, though, if a little brief. It is an ideal new title for speed-runners to stream, and all-in-all a fun, addictive, crazy, little arcade experience. Based on this, Nitrome is one to watch; it certainly has a promising future ahead.
