God is a GeekDan MurphySep 201610/10PES has refined year on year in this generation, continuing to improve, but PES 2017 is the crowning moment. With different tactics and styles that are effective, and unique players, great goal feel and lovely control, PES 2017 just feels so good to play. It may well be the greatest football game ever made.

The gameplay is truly eclectic, but the ridiculous graphics fiasco and the lackluster set dressing bring it way down. It may well be the best gameplay this series has seen since the PS2 era, but it doesn’t look the part.

For hardened PES fans there’s probably enough to satisfy, but for the rest of us we look to FIFA with hope and trepidation. Don’t screw us on this one EA!
