ShacknewsTimo ReineckeFeb 20259/10If you can’t tell by now, I’m deeply in love with this game. I just don’t want to give away too much yet. But I believe it tells an important story about the made-up, easily digestible realities behind the complicated, horrible events in our day-to-day lives. About social media white knight justice as a feel-good spectator sport and how we treat tragedies, culprits, and their victims in our always-online world.

Summit ReviewsMay 2025Though the story might feel weak and the gameplay a slog at times, I still enjoyed the suspense and presentation of this mystery. It even manages to deliver a surprising ending, though not entirely for the best reasons as not everything fits as neatly as it could have. All in all, Urban Myth Dissolution Center was a good read.

Checkpoint GamingDavid McNamaraFeb 20256/10Leaning more into visual novel territory than detective work, Urban Myth Dissolution Center firmly guides you through some of the spookiest stories in contemporary folklore. Its striking pixel art and emphasis on social media as a tool for investigation lend it a unique charm, though it's let down by repetitive gameplay and awkwardness in its narrative pacing. Worth a look for fans of creepypasta, but those keen on a more fleshed-out investigative experience may be left wanting.
