Gaming NexusHenry YuOct 20228.5/10It's not everyday you see a refreshing approach on the Souls-like genre, especially one that doesn't take itself too seriously. The Last Hero of Nostalgaia does just that, putting you into the pixelated boots of a bundle of sticks on a mission to restore the entire world of video games. Developer Over The Moon does a fantastic job wrapping what we all know and love about Dark Souls with a layer of satirical flare and video game history. If you can get past some frustrating design choices and janky keyboard controls, then you're in for a nostalgic treat.

TheGamerGeorge FosterOct 20224/5 starsAlthough Nostalgaia does have some shortcomings that put it below the games it’s trying to ape, the fact that it manages to get even a little bit close is a feat of its own. Whether you’re an IP freak like me who's happy seeing a ton of love for gaming, someone looking to get into the Soulsborne genre, or a FromSoft veteran that’s looking for something new, there’s something in Nostalgaia for everyone.

Garage Band GamersChad JohnsonOct 20229/10A worthy addition to the growing catalog of Souls-like games on the market, especially if you can find the humor in some of the worst aspects of them.

PlayStation UniverseJohn-Paul JonesJul 20234/10As Soulslikes go, The Last Hero of Nostalgaia certainly boasts a neat hook on account of its smugly cynical narrative and frequent bouts of cheeky humour. However, the occasionally imprecise combat, uninteresting enemies and worlds coupled with a raft of frustrating bugs and a general lack of polish all serve to commit The Last Hero of Nostalgaia to an oblivion of mediocrity.

Video ChumsA.J. MaciejewskiOct 20223/5 starsThe Last Hero of Nostalgaia is basically a rudimentary version of Dark Souls where you play as a stick man but at least it's funny.
