GameSpaceScott JeslisSep 20197/10Niffelheim is a strong showing by an indie game company. It's survival mechanics might feel a bit too familiar without adding much new. Initially, it'll take quite a while to feel productive as the resource grind is a bit real. 2D might be appealing to some or might be a turn-off for veteran players coming from a lot of the 1st and 3rd person survival games out there.

God is a GeekMick FraserApr 20206.5/10Niffelheim is a decent 2D survival game that plays it all just a little too seriously to be called enjoyable. It looks pretty good, but the simple combat and finicky systems hold it back.

Pure NintendoHeath Shusterman-ZimmermanOct 20195/10Niffelheim had plenty of good things going for it, without room for mistakes it kind of killed the flow of the game. With plenty of other good crafting action-adventure RPG games on the Switch, Niffelheim just failed to hold my attention.

But Why Tho?Jason FlattSep 20195/10Unfortunately, Niffelheim does not possess enough visual appeal despite its gorgeous hand drawings, nor enthralling mechanics or ease of access for non-genre enthusiasts like myself.
