GameGrinGary SheppardDec 201910/10It's a fine line when creating a sequel to such a classic game. Go too modern and you alienate your classic player base, but go too retro and it doesn't appeal to the new generation of gamers. Taito has got the balance spot on here though, and created a Bubble Bobble for 2019 that feels completely right, but without being mere fanservice. It's a brilliant game that all Switch owners ought to get in my opinion.

Marooners' RockFrank VentimigliaApr 20208.6/10Taito’s latest creation is an example of a retro revival done right and a release this caliber was an awesome way to celebrate the franchise’s 34-year legacy.

God is a GeekChris HydeNov 20195.5/10Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will appeal to younger audiences. Older players will have to have very rose-tinted specs to appreciate this over previous versions.

GBAtempBen SellwoodApr 20205/10I found this game difficult to enjoy. It just doesn't do enough to keep you entertained and, at points, I struggled to even want to try to finish it. The repetitive nature of the game may appeal to some and while this type of game may have been "milestone" back in the '80s, nowadays we always hope for more bang for our buck. I would wait until it's on sale before purchasing as I just can't justify the £35 price tag.
