The first movie was a very different beast indeed. You might not appreciate this one as much if you liked the feel of the first one. This is way more camp, with way more over-the-top core and slime, which might work for some people, but not necessarily those who liked the first movie, which was a different feel altogether. This movie isn't bad, and it is certainly mid-90s to its core, not quite as black and gothic as it might have been, but it is what it is.
Read the whole review on TMDBIt took six years to get a _Night of the Demons_ sequel off the ground, which means that the primary antagonist doesn't hold up suuuper well to scrutiny as an immortal-undead possession-case. But _Night of the Demons 2_ is like... 99% as much fun as the first movie, which is a pretty good CV given the record of these sorts of sequels. _Final rating:★★★ - I liked it. Would personally recommend you give it a go._
