Apparently autobiographical account of a teenager volunteering for service in an elite division of the german army and very difficult service on Germany's eastern front to the end of the war. Book appears to have a great following, but has had several disputes about names and dates that lead some to say Sajer didn't actually serve where he says he did. It is a great read regardless.
