The Madness is a studio album by English ska/pop band The Madness, which was a spinoff group of Madness. It was originally released in mid-1988 on Virgin Records. With the demise of Madness' own label Zarjazz, Madness were directly recruited to Virgin. The group decided to add a "The" to their name to distinguish themselves from their previous work. They even made attempts of a name change in 1987, but that idea was dropped.
